When adding garlic to your dog's diet always make sure:
Avoid garlic use in dogs who:
- have IBS
- are pregnant or nursing
- breeds who are prone to anemia (shiba inus, akitas)
- puppies under 6 months of age
Start by adding small amounts and work gradually to the maximum dosage. Use a measuring spoon after finely mincing (nothing from a jar). Feed this amount daily every other week. Maximum suggested dosage:
- 5 lbs 1/6 tsp
- 10 lbs 1/ 3 tsp
- 15 lbs 1/2 tsp
- 20 lbs 2/3 tsp
- 30 lbs 1 tsp
- 25 - 50 lbs 1/4 clove
- 50 - 75 lbs 3/4 clove
- 100+ lbs 1 clove
