MYTH!

Dry kibble does not keep your dogs teeth clean. In fact, it causes dental problems! Dry kibble is full of carbohydrates which turn to sugar and stick to the teeth causing dental disease.

Below is a picture of a dogs teeth that has been fed raw food (left). On the right is the same dog after being fed dry kibble for 17 days.

This is not the only factor in your dogs dental health. Things like diet, genetics, infections, medications, and lack of dental care all play a factor into dental disease in dogs.

It is important to keep your dogs teeth clean as it can lead to more serious problems. Diet, raw bones, and brushing are all good ways you can help keep your dogs teeth clean.

If your dog exhibits any of the following symptoms it may be time for a dental cleaning.

If your dog ends up needing their teeth clean be sure that they:

  • Run bloodwork before to make sure they're in good health.
  • A checkup with the vet before to make sure everything else checks out.

Make sure you know as much about the procedure as possible.

  • Who is doing it?
  • Will someone be watching over them in addition to the vet to monitor their vitals?
